John Panichi, CEO
John is a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College and State University of Albany. Immediately after graduation, he worked for the Journal Clerk in the New York State Senate. In 1982, he joined Blue Shield of NENY as an Account Executive and quickly ascended through various management positions including Labor Representative, National Accounts Manager and Manager of Sales. As Manager of Sales, he had direct responsibility for the entire Sales Department including the telemarketing division.

Additionally, he collaborated on company wide marketing campaigns, product development and strategy. In 1986, he was recruited by CDPHP to assume their Director of Marketing position reporting directly to the President of the Plan. This role encompassed direct responsibility for all product development, company wide sales, and marketing initiatives.
In 1987, he was invited to join Benetech, a start-up firm, as Vice President and Principal. John assumed the role of President in 1997 and held the same title in Medclaim USA, the parent company of Benetech, APA Partners/Claimtech, Med Associates and Medclaim Partners. As a result of the sale/reorganization of the various subsidiaries, John became the CEO of Benetech in 2004. Today, Benetech has grown to one of the New York’s largest and most respected leaders in its specific areas of expertise.
John is very active in many civic organizations in his community and is currently the Chairman of the North Greenbush Industrial Development Authority
Barry McNamara, President
A 1974 graduate of SUNY Oswego, Barry has spent his entire career in the employee benefits business.
He joined Benetech as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in May of 2003, and was named President in 2005.

Barry oversees new client integration, client/member support services and all regulatory compliance communications. Building on his diverse experience, he serves as Executive Consultant to some of the company’s largest and most diverse benefits clients -- with a specific emphasis on the public sector/collectively bargained market. Finally, as part of the Senior Management team, he is actively involved in the development and implementation of all of the company’s strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining Benetech, Barry’s positions included Founder/Principal of McNamara Associates; Vice President of Large Group Sales and Service for Blue Shield of NENY; Regional Sales Director for UICI Administrators (a national Third Party Administrator); Territorial Sales Director, National Sales Vice President and Vice President of Marketing for MetLife; and Group Underwriter and Client Service Manager for the Union Labor Life Insurance Company.
Tina Panichi, Vice President of Workers’ Compensation
It was over 20 years ago that Tina was asked to provide clerical assistance to our one and only claim adjuster on a temporary basis to reduce a claim backlog. It was during that initial experience that she developed her passion for the business. Today, Tina is primarily responsible for building Benetech into one of the largest public sector workers’ compensation third party administrators in New York State. Presently, we manage self-insured pools representing over 450 public entities and over 125 public school districts through-out the State of New York. She is responsible for managing the entire department including all operational aspects.

At the client level, she has developed a number of costs saving initiatives such as: Light Duty Work programs; Early Determination of Disability programs and Managed Prescription Drug Plans, etc., that continue to save our clients money year in and year out. She has successfully navigated, implemented and embraced all of the regulatory changes that have occurred at both the State and Federal levels to insure our clients are in compliance. In addition, she takes pride in that our clients enjoy some of the lowest costs in industry due to methodical and aggressive management of claims and judicious use of our clients’ precious resources. Most importantly, it’s the partnerships we’ve formed with clients that ultimately make the difference in successful programs. Without their help… we couldn’t be near as successful reducing cost!
Sandy Mead, Corporate Controller/Internal Auditor

Sandy joined Benetech in 2000. She has a BS in Accounting from the College of St. Rose and has experience in Government Accounting as well. She oversees the internal controls of the company and is responsible for budgetary planning and monitoring. Sandy has many years of experience in the management of company operations.
Darren Moser, CFO
Darren graduated from SUNY Albany with a BS in Mathematics in 1987 and earned his MBA from the same university in 1992.

Darren is responsible for financial reporting, actuarial calculations and budget forecasting. He has over 25 years of experience performing similar services with MetLife, Blue Shield of NENY and Benetech. At MetLife, he served as chief actuarial analyst on the Empire Plan for 10 years. At Blue Shield, he was responsible for rating and underwriting for all of their business, including fully insured, self-insured and community rated products
John Dalmata, Director of Operations
John is the Director of Operations. He values the challenge of finding simple solutions to complex problems. Prior to joining Benetech, John spent several years working for a variety of companies in different industries and capacities.

With experience in areas such as logistics, purchasing, management, production, technology development, product development, merchandising… John’s experience and knowledge is integral in the strategic planning and execution of Benetech’s ongoing strategy. John wears many hats but his primary responsibility is managing and overseeing daily operations here at Benetech. John earned an undergraduate degree in Marketing and Management from Siena College, and his M.B.A from SNHU. John resides in Wynantskill, NY with his beautiful wife Marissa, daughter Maura and crazy dog Luna- the company mascot.
Mary Lou Foland, Director of Marketing & Communications
Mary Lou earned her BS in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Business Management from Elmira College in 2000. After graduating she worked as a Technical Services Specialist at Shaker Computer & Management Services, Inc.

specializing in databases and Unix systems administration. Mary Lou joined Benetech in 2003 as a Technical Writer – marrying her technical background with her love of writing. Valuing the challenge of growth and new opportunities, her role has expanded over the years to include project management, planning, communications, marketing and technical support.
Marc Quinlan, Director of Client Services

Marc Quinlan received his MBA from the College of Saint Rose in 2004. Post-graduation, Marc spent several years at MVP Health Care as an Account Associate for National Accounts. Marc joined Benetech’s team in 2007 providing client services as Senior Benefit Advisor, specializing in large school districts, school district consortiums, towns and municipalities.
Sheila Watts – Manager of Claims & Auditing

Sheila has over 25 years of industry experience adjudicating medical, dental, and Section 125 claims in self-insured and fully-insured plans. Prior to joining Benetech in 2009, she was the Manager of Claims and Customer Service for APA Partners, Inc. a division of Capital District Physicians Health Plan. Sheila’s current responsibilities include coordinating medical claim audits and dependent eligibility verification audits. Sheila is also a team member of the Internal Audit and Compliance Committee, where she is responsible for reviewing internal controls for continued accuracy and compliance.
Jake Bills, Operations Supervisor

Jake is a 2000 graduate from University at Albany. After graduating he held project management and quality assurance positions at Vicarious Visions and Bokland Custom Visuals. Jake joined Benetech in 2010, managing all subscriber and dependent eligibility related to benefit enrollment and ACA. In addition, Jake has a pivotal role in implementing, testing and maintaining our proprietary online benefit enrollment system, eBenefits Resource.
Victor Barresi, SHRM-CP: Director of Human Resources and Benefits Advisor

Victor came to Benetech after 15 years toiling in the New York State Legislature as a Senior Legislative Analyst and campaign advisor. He has worked in the field of human resources for the past 14 years. Victor is certified in OSHA for general industry and is a HR professional attaining his certification from the Society of Human Resources Management. Victor believes that two most important traits are honesty and loyalty. He gets his greatest enjoyment from his family and always enjoys a good laugh.
Matt Ingold: Director of Business Development & Sales

Matt joined the Benetech team in the fall of 2014 to direct Benetech’s customer development strategy and Strategic Partnership Program. Graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 2006, Matt was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and served seven years as a leader of Marines. During that time, he deployed twice overseas, and served his final three years as a combat instructor at the Marine Corps’ officer development and ethical leadership school, The Basic School. Gaining expertise in the areas of strategic planning, communications, and team management, Matt’s time in the military fostered key skills that have been a welcomed addition to the Benetech team. Matt is happily married to his wife, Erin, and they are huge fans of their new Adirondack lifestyle!
